Whirlwind is located south of Phoenix near Chandler within the Gila River Native American Community off I-10 at Wild Horse Pass Blvd with two 18 hole courses.

The layouts are a blend of desert scenery with saguaro, palo verde, mesquite, and cottonwood trees off the broad fairways and high native grasses at the borders. There's a number of water features, sand is a common element along the fairways and greenside, and the greens are large and slightly sloped with moderate undulation. There's some modest elevation change to the land providing views across the valley to the mountains of the Phoenix area. The Cattail course is 7,029 yards, 73.4/132, course/slope ratings from the black tees; the Devil's Claw course is 7,218 yards, 72.6/129, course/slope ratings both with four shorter tees, both opened in 2000 and designed by Gary Panks.
