Jekyll Island is located off the Georgia coast, near Brunswick, with golf carved through the pine forests over generally level terrain, with numerous ponds, lakes, and wetlands. Jekyll Island was once the private club for the wealthy elite, including the Rockefellers, Morgans, and Pulitzers, but is now owned by the State of Georgia.
The star of the package is Great Dunes, an original Walter Travis design from 1927, with 9 holes combined with 9 holes from the former Dick Wilson-designed Oleander Course.
The result, from architects Brian Ross and Jeffrey Stein, is a layout which winds through the dunes along scruffy waste areas, out to the Atlantic shore, then back home through a maritime forest. It tips out at 7,014 yards and 4,818 from the forward markers, with five tees overall and a par-72.
Indian Mound is a parkland layout with well-bunkered fairways bordered by lakes and marshes, and it is the shortest of the courses. It's named after the large oyster shell mounds deposited by Aboriginal tribes hundreds of years ago. The golf course was designed by Joe Lee in 1975 and is 6,469 yards, 71.1/129, course/slope ratings from the tips with four shorter tees.
Pine Lakes is over similar terrain and design features with water in play on half the holes. It was designed by Clyde Johnson with multiple tee boxes; the white tees play to 6,211 yards, 69.4/123, course/slope ratings.
