Grassy Creek is northeast of Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Spruce Pine about 30 minutes from Mt. Mitchell, Roan Mountain, and Grandfather Mountain with the The Blue Ridge Parkway and Little Switzerland only a few miles away.

The course is a mountain/parkland style layout with narrow, tree lined fairways and multiple water hazards including Graveyard Creek leading to modestly bunkered, small greens. It plays to 6,277 yards, 69.9/130, course/slope ratings from the black tees with two shorter tees, designed by Ross Taylor in 1955.
