Timber Point has 27 holes located south of Montauk Highway in Great River as the Connetquot River meets the Great South Bay with views out over the south shore of Fire Island, Hecksher Park, and Oakdale.

The layout provides a combination of parkland and links style elements over level terrain exposed to the constant wind coming off Great South Bay. Water hazards and sand traps dominate the layout both along the fairways and defending the modest, oval greens. Yardages, course/slope ratings for the various rotations from the tips with three shorter tees: Blue-3,341 yards, White-3,141 yards; Red-3,300 yards; Blue/White-71.4/124, course/slope ratings; White/Red-70./124; Red/Blue-71.8/126. The Blue/White layout was designed by H.S. Colt, the Red by C H Alison.
