Sugarloaf Golf Club is 1 1/2 hours northwest of Waterville at the Sugarloaf Resort in the Carrabassett Valley.

The layout is pure mountain golf in Maine's Western mountains over the side of Sugarloaf Mountain and carved through the forest. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. who designated it his "String of Pearls" due to the way the white birch trees line the initial 6 holes on the back side along the Carrabassett River. It's an extremely hilly layout over sloping and plunging fairways bordered by streams on the back nine and sand bunkers throughout. It plays to 6,910 yards from the tips, 74.5/151, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
