Oak Pointe is on the west side of Kiawah on Johns Island in a residential community of the west bank of the Kiawah River.

The golf course is a shot maker's layout navigating a scenic setting with the wind always a factor as it traverses marsh areas and live oak, magnolia, pines, palmetto, and palm tree lined fairways along Haulover Creek. The course was built on the grounds of an old indigo and cotton plantation over slightly undulating terrain with water as the dominate feature. It's was renovated by Clyde Johnson and plays to 6,701 yards from the back tees, 71.9/130, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees.
