Fountain Springs is located 30 minutes east of I-77 at the Princeton exit on US 219 on the north side of Peterstown.

The golf course is an interesting parkland layout winding along tree lined fairways with numerous ponds and wetlands, a moderate amount of sand bunkers, and the greens all shapes and sizes including a partial island green. The fairways are generally open off the tees, there's a few doglegs, but generally it's very straightforward and playable as it moves through a scenic setting in a valley of the Appalachians. The golf course was designed by Russell Breeden in the late 1990s with four sets of tees from 4,668 yards to 6,278 yards at the tips, 70.4/120, course/slope ratings.
