Ford's Colony

Ford's Colony is off the #234 exit of I-64 then west on 199 to Rt 60/Centerville Road. There's three 18 hole, championship golf courses here within a residential community of upscale homes, a Marriott Hotel, and a timeshare development.

The courses, Marsh Hawk, Black Heath, and Blue Heron were designed by Dan Maples are all somewhat similar as they traverse tree lined fairways bordered by marshes, lakes, and creeks with a generous amount of sand bunkers, but at different levels of challenge. The Blue Heron course is somewhat open off the tee but navigates through wetlands and is the more strategic of the layouts here. It's the shortest at 6,156 yards from the Gold tees, 70.2/127, course/slope ratings. Marsh Hawk is along narrow fairways off the tee over some elevation change with well guarded greens. It's 500 yards longer at 6,650 yards, 72.2/132, course/slope ratings. Blackheath is the most challenging as it moves along tree lined fairways with water hazards on the majority of holes, numerous doglegs, and an abundance of sand bunkers. It is 6,621 yards from the tips, 71.9/135 with three shorter tees,
