Erin Hills Golf Course

Erin Hills is 45 minutes northwest of Milwaukee in Hartford laid into 652 acres of glacial dunes in the Kettle Moraine surrounded by wetlands.

The golf course is an inland links or heathland design with firm and fast, fescue lined fairways on land that was barely touched during its development. The fairways are corridors between the dunes and ridges and the greens are positioned on knolls and plateaus with the tees near the greens to promote walking. It looks like the course has been here forever and the setting is unmatched in the Wisconsin area, let alone the whole Midwest. The greens range in size from 3,000 to 12,000 square feet and are quick A-4 bent-grass protected by fescue edged bunkers that are deep and penal. In addition to the myriad of defenses, it's is almost impossible to find a level lie in rippling fairways! There's six sets of tees overall from 5,109 yards to 7,812 yards at the tips, the white tees are 6,228 yards, 70.5/129, course/slope ratings. The course was designed by Hurdzan-Fry and Golf Digest writer Ron Whitten in 2004, and was the venue for a US Amateur and the 2017 US Open.
