The Country Club of Johnston County is just off I-95 south of Smithfield, within a residential development on the north side of Holts Lake.

The course moves over generally level terrain along pine tree-lined fairways. It features slight and dramatic doglegs, multiple ponds in play, and 32 sand traps along the landing areas and greens.
There are tees from 5,043 to 6,582 yards; the White tees are 6,127 yards, 69.7/124, course/slope ratings, designed by Ellis Maples.
