Cinder Ridge is located 20 minutes south of Joliet just off Interstate 55 between exist 236 and 238 to the west.

The golf course was built on 350 acres of one of the largest strip mines in the region left for dead now reclaimed and useful. It features fairways bordered by heavily wooded, natural areas and those along marshlands with water hazards in play on fourteen holes. It was designed and built by the owner George Kappos and is a par 72, 6,968 yards, 73.1/139, course/slope ratings from the black tees and four shorter tees.
