Byron Hills is on the northeast side of the Quad Cities on the east side of Port Byron in a natural setting surrounded by fields and forests.

The golf course is a traditional layout traversing tree lined corridors over undulating terrain. It winds along gentle doglegs with a stream bisecting the layout from north to south and producing multiple ponds in addition to sand bunkers primarily defending the greens and the occasional landing zone off the tee. It can play to 6,465 yards, 70.5/115, course/slope ratings off the blue tees with two shorter tee boxes.
