The York CC is about 45 minutes west of Lincoln, just off I-80 to the north on the west side of York, surrounded by farmland and forests.
The golf course has a classic layout, winding through old-growth elm and ash tree-lined fairways over slightly undulating terrain. A creek coils through 12 holes, with sand bunkers protecting the generally small, oval, or kidney-shaped greens as hazards. Interestingly, the holes on the front nine are routed north and south, while the back side is predominantly east to west, save for two holes. There are four sets of tees, the tips play to a short 6,070 yards, 69.8/122, course/slope ratings, and a par of 70. The front, original nine holes were designed by Charles Johnston in 1919, with Jim Engh providing a redesign and new nine in 1987.
