Walden Oaks is on the southwest side of Cortland, off Rt 13, partially bordering a residential development, with the remaining holes carved through deep woods.

The layout is a parkland design and somewhat target-oriented. The fairways range from open to narrow and are bordered by mature hardwood trees, numerous ponds and streams, a host of doglegs, and a modest number of sand traps, mostly guarding the greens. The course was designed by Bill Galloway and plays to 6,035 yards from the tips, 70.0/123 course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
