Verrado is on the west side of Phoenix in Buckeye at the Verrado Road exit off I-10 then north a couple of miles in a 55+ residential development at the base of the White Tank Mountains with two 18 hole golf courses.
The Founder's courses fairways are isolated strands rolling through the desert terrain at differing elevations with views of the city and the surrounding mountain ranges. The landing areas off the tee are generous, but the approach shots to the greens are the layout's primary defense with several water hazards and an array of sand bunkers. From the tips it plays to 7,258 yards, 73.9/139, course/slope with seven shorter sets of tees, designed by John Fought and Tom Lehman.
The Victory course provides a contrast to the Founders course in terms of the setting and the layout's design. The fairways are carved through the stark desert landscape along stone and boulders crossing and bordering waste areas at the dotted with Saguaros. It's challenging with several blind approaches to generous, tiered and undulating greens defended by deep sand bunkers in a setting providing views of the west valley throughout the round. There's five sets of tees from 4,646 yards to 7,258 yards with the middle, white tees at 5,981 yards, designed by Tom Lehman.
