Twin Birch is 40 minutes southeast of Traverse City and 30 minutes west of Grayling on the east side of Kalkaska on CR 612.

The layout tends to be target golf where you might consider leaving the driver in the bag on several holes. The course is split by the Boardman River along a mix of narrow and broad, tree lined and isolated fairways with water in play on multiple holes and a sparing use of sand along the fairways and greens. It's not all that long, 4,751 yards at the front tees to 6,285 yards at the tips, 71.5/125, course/slope ratings, original nine designed by Ron Cross and in 1968 with Joe Reske designing the new nine in 1989.
