Tomahawk Lake CC is 3 miles south of Deadwood on US 385 out on its own lumbering through wooded, hilly land in the Black Hills National Forest.

The golf course is a 9 hole layout moving through a blend of narrow and open, pine tree lined fairways bordered by tall prairie grasses. It's in a scenic setting with some change in elevation and dotted with sand traps in addition to a stream in play on the finishing holes. The course has was designed by Lawrence Hughes in the 1930s and plays to 3,390 yards from the tips, 35.2/122, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
