The Pines is located on the Intracoastal waterway just 45 miles south of Norfolk in Elizabeth City.

The layout is a parkland style design reminiscent of the Pinehurst area as it cruises through broad, pine tree lined fairways along multiple water hazards with well defended, modest and raised greens surrounded by chipping/collection areas. It was designed by Tom Clark and from the tips is 6.682 yards, par of 72, 72.8/135, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees.
