Shadow Lakes is 10 miles north of the Pittsburgh National Airport, off the Beaver Valley Expressway at exit 45 to the east, in a predominantly natural valley setting with homes along two holes.

The golf course is a parkland-style design that moves over slightly rolling hills through tree-lined fairways, numerous water hazards, and sand bunkers along the landing zones and greenside. It was designed by Ferdinard Garbin, and from the tips, plays to 6,615 yards, 72.2/139, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
