Stones Throw is 50 miles north of Coon Rapids off US 169 to the west on the north side of Milaca along a bend in the Rum River.

The layout marches along broad fairways lined with oak and pine trees, over level terrain in a scenic setting just off the River. Water is the dominant feature here, with O'Neill Brook traversing the middle of the course from east to west, in addition to several ponds and a moderate amount of sand protecting the landing zones and greens. The course is a par 70 with four tees from 4,740 to 6,103 yards off the back tees, 70.2/126 course/slope ratings, and design work by Jeffrey McDowell, Ralph Emerson, Jim Resch, and Scott Mattson.
