Southern Hills is 50 miles south of Rapid City, just south of Custer State Park in Hot Springs.

Don't be fooled by the yardage; this is an outstanding golf course and very challenging with narrow, tree-lined fairways and approaches. The layout provides for varying degrees of topography change of 380 feet overall with elevated tees, doglegs, water hazards, sand bunkers, and blind shots in a scenic, natural setting. It's a par 70 layout and 5,905 yards from the tips, 69.6/131, course/slope ratings, with two shorter tees with recent design work by Richard Phelps.
