Slippery Rock is on the southeast side of town, bordering the north bank of Slippery Rock Creek on a large, natural tract of rolling, forested land adjoining Armco Park.

The course is straightforward overall, carved through the woods along isolated fairways with a host of uphill/downhill lies. There's only one pond in play, and sand bunkers defend many of the generous greens and the occasional fairway landing zone. The course will play to a short 6,098 yards off the tips, 70.2/124 course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, partially designed by Wynn Tredway.
