Shining Mountain is 30 minutes west of Colorado Springs in the shadow of Pikes Peak in the Pike National Forest on the north side of Woodland Park.

The layout provides for an interesting and varied design in a stunning setting with a blend of broad and narrow, lodgepole pine fairways bordered by sage meadows. The course roams over a large tract of land along separate and unique fairways generally with sand bunkers at the landing areas and guarding the sloping, contoured greens. It's not all that long when you consider the 8,500 feet in elevation at 6,478 yards, par 70, 71.6/136, course/slope ratings off the tips with three shorter tees, designed by John Harbottle.
