Shade Mountain is 10 miles west of Selinsgrove, just off US 522 in Middleburg.

The layout is a parkland-style design over a hilly tract of land without homes or development in a scenic setting. The front nine is somewhat open off the tee, while the backside tightens up along narrow, tree-lined fairways. There are frequent doglegs where placement shots are required, forced carries over ravines, several ponds and a stream coming into play, and sand bunkers defending the greens. It can play to 6,698 yards, 71.7/125, course/slope ratings from the tips with three shorter tee boxes, designed by Ed Ault in the 1960s.
