The Scotch Meadows Country Club is eight miles south of Laurinburg, off US 401 to the southeast.

The golf course is a stereotypical Sandhills layout, traversing pine-tree fairways over slightly rolling contours. Gum Swamp Creek bisects the layout, producing numerous streams and ponds along fairways defined by trees, leading to modest, oval, or kidney-shaped greens well-defended by sand bunkers. It plays to 6,527 yards from the Blue tees (72.5 rating/130 slope) with three shorter tees, and while not noted in the Ross Society and the Tufts Archives, a front nine allegedly designed by Donald Ross and a back nine by Russell Breeden.
