River Vale is located on the west side of the Lake Tappan near the New York border in North Jersey 20 minutes from the GW Bridge.

The golf course is a classic parkland layout from 1928 that remains much the original design. It's a compact and straightforward touring along fairways defined by old growth hardwood trees with Cherry Brook traversing the western third of the course and sand bunkers along the fairways and defending the crowned greens surrounded by collection areas. The tips play to 6,504 yards, 71.4/132, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Orrin Smith.
