Rend Lake is south of Mt Vernon, west of I-57 at exit 77 on the east side of Rend Lake.

The golf course is a 27-hole parkland-style layout with the fairways defined by old growth and hardwood trees on a natural tract of land overlooking Rend Lake. Overall, there's water in play on 1/3 of the holes and an abundance of sand bunkers along the fairways and guarding the greens with average-sized greens, slightly undulating. There are five sets of tees with the yardages and course/slope rotations for the various rotations from the tips: East-3,419 yards, South-3,442 yards, and West-3,393 yards.
