Putnam County is 55 miles north of Manhattan off the Taconic Parkway to the east in Mahopac in the Lower Hudson Valley.

The layout is a compact, parkland design along narrow, tree lined and rolling fairways with several water hazards in play and modest, raised greens well defended by sand bunkers. The course was designed by William Mitchell in 1955 and from the back tees is 6,804 yards, 73.3/129, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
