Prairie Isle is in the northwest suburbs of Chicago between Crystal Lake and Wauconda on Route 176.

The course treks through an abandoned gravel pit in a completely natural setting without homes or development. It's a parkland style layout through tree lined fairways along with those bordered by wetlands, lakes, and open meadows with water hazards in play on most holes. From the back tees it's 6,601 yards, 71.8/131, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees, designed by Gordon Cunningham.
