Pinon Hills is a city owned course located at 5,900 feet above sea level on the Western Colorado Plateau on the north side of Farmington just west of the San Juan College.

The layout provides numerous forced carries over sandstone canyons and long arroyos framed by the high desert terrain bordering the fairways with several water features. The course has significant elevation changes with sand bunkering frequently along the landing zones off the tee and surrounding the green complexes. It was designed by Ken Dye in 1990 and measures 7,198 from the blue tees, 73.9/139, course/slope ratings with four shorter tees.
