Pine Dunes is between Athens and Jacksonville on the south side of Frankston off TX 155 to the west.

The course is an Augusta/Pine Valley experience journeying through stands of mature pines with open (Augusta style) or island (Pine Valley) fairways over the rolling hills in the Piney Woods of east Texas. The layout has a considerable amount of conventional sand bunkers and waste areas bordering the fairways and greens and five water hazards in play overall. There's four sets of tees from 5,150 yards to 7,117 yards at the tips, 74.4/131, course/slope ratings. It was originally a small 9 hole layout when the new owner Jodi Lutz purchased it in 1994 and with the help of PGA Tour Pro David Frost, Scott Miller, Jay and Carter Morrish, the course was redesigned and an additional 9 holes added.
