Penobscot Valley CC is north of Bangor off I-95 at exit 191 to the east at Main Street in Orono on the west bank of the Penobscot River.

The golf course is a traditional layout on level terrain along broad fairways defined by scattered trees with deep and shallow faced, jagged-edge sand bunkers defending the fairways' landing zones and modest, raised greens. It was designed by Donald Ross in 1924 and off the back tees plays to 6,445 yards, 71.3/130, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
