Pasatiempo Golf Club

Pasatiempo is located along the ridge above Santa Cruz overlooking the Monterey Peninsula just off the PCH.

The golf course is framed by tree lined fairways with numerous barrancas over the rolling mountainside. Deep, white, sculptured sand bunkers defend the fairways and small, lightening fast greens. It measures 6,500 from the back tees, 72.4/143, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees. The golf course was developed by a wealthy New Yorker and US Womens' Amateur Champion Marion Hollins who helped design Cypress Point with Alister Mackenzie and then retained him for her dream of Pasatiempo. The course opened in 1929 with Bobby Jones playing in the inaugural foursome and shooting a 75. So impressed was Jones by Pasatiempo as well as Cypress Point, he hired Mackenzie to design Augusta National with him. Mackenzie eventually retired here to a home along the 6th fairway. There's been a total restoration by Tom Doak and Jim Urbina to restore it to its original design features. It's one of Mackenzie's best you can play, and by the way Pasatiempo in Spanish means passing of time.
