River Lakes is on the west side of town, between Hageman and Olive, west of Coffee Road, within a residential development straddling Calloway Canal.

The layout provides a generous amount of hazards in play with water, sand bunkers, and a punishing rough along the fairways and bordering the greens. There are several forced carries and multiple risk/reward opportunities with the 18th, a superb finish. It's a generally level layout with the Tehachapi Mountains as a background, and save for the homes bordering the fairways, is fairly scenic.
