Ironwood is located north of Ann Arbor and south of Flint off US 23 at the M59 exit west.

The course lumbers over relatively level terrain along a mixture of fairways through narrow tree-lined corridors and those with scattered trees at the borders. There's water hazards in play on half the holes with a forced carry to both #9 and #18, a sparing use of sand traps, and mildly undulating, green complexes of various sizes. The course was designed by Carl Stepcar in 1972 and from the tips measures 6,145 yards, 67.9/120, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees.
