Horton Smith Municipal Golf Course

Horton Smith is a municipal golf course located on the southwest side of Springfield off the Kansas Expressway adjoining Nathanael Green Park to the west.

The golf course is a traditional layout over slightly rolling terrain along fairways defined by trees, and straightforward with a scattering of sand traps along the fairways and defending the modest greens. It's very playable at only 6,312 yards from the back tees, 69.5/103, course/slope ratings with two shorter tees, designed by Donald Sechrest. The course was named for local son Horton Smith who won a couple of Master's Tournaments in the 1930s.
