The Highlands Golf Course is on the north side of Franklin in the Potomac Valley midway between Harrisonburg and Elkins.

The golf course treks over a scenic setting situated between mountain ridges and a slight valley. It's a hilly, parkland layout with a mix of narrow and open, tree lined fairways, several holes with water hazards, and sand bunkers through the fairways and defending the quick, undulating and tiered greens. From the tips the course plays to 6,796 yards, 73.7/144, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, designed by Bill Ward.
