Genoa Lakes is south of Carson City off US 395 across from the airport along the lowlands of the Carson River through a residential community.

The Lakes course is a links style layout over rolling fairways with a couple of the holes moving up into the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Carson River runs through the course and comes into play on 14 holes in addition to a healthy dose of sand bunkers. There's four sets of tees, the Blue tees play to 6,050 yards, 67.3/120, course/slope ratings, designed by Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III.
