Coyote Hills is in Fullerton off the Orange Freeway at Yorba Linda on the west side on a former Unocal Oil field with 20 or so pumping wells remaining.

The course is within an Audubon Sanctuary on a large, 250 acre tract of rolling terrain with homes bordering several of the exterior fairways. It features numerous elevated tees, creeks and ponds, and sand bunkers defending the landing zones off the tee and the greens. It's a thrilling, target golf front nine with significant elevation change while the back side is comparatively sedate, but with more in the way of water features. From the tips it's 6,510 yards, par 70, 72.1/134, course/slope ratings with four shorter tee boxes, designed by Cal Olsen and Payne Stewart.
