Tom Doak was engaged to re-design the former Mira Vista municipal golf course, now Commonground, located at Havana and Alameda on the former Lowry USAF installation. Doak's usually known for multi-million dollar upscale courses like Bandon Dunes and Ballyneal, but was convinced/compelled to contribute to the redesign owing to his public golf roots and giving back to the game.

The layout has changed completely from the original design by removing or moving trees, adding interesting green shapes and contours, and expanding or enhancing the sand bunkers. The par 3s are stellar as are a couple of the par 5s, and overall it's a vast improvement from the former layout. The course plays to 7,229 yards, 73.2/131, course/slope ratings from the black tees with five shorter tees and is co-owned by the Colorado Golf Association and Colorado Women's Golf Association.
