Coldwater Golf Links is on the south side of Ames off US 30 at exit 148 on the east side of Iowa State's campus.

The golf course is a links style layout with wide open fairways bordered by tall fescue. There's numerous sand traps along the fairways and guarding the greens along with water hazards in play on over half the holes. It was designed by Tripp Davis and from the back tees is 6,787 yards, 72.4/130, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees.
