The Cateechee Golf Club is on the south side of Hartwell in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains just southeast of Lake Hartwell.

The layout provides isolated and unique holes over varying changes in elevation. The fairway corridors are bordered by old growth trees and tall fescue with Cedar Creek in play on five holes along with a generous amount of sand traps at the landing zones and greenside. It was designed by Mike Young in the mid-1990s with four sets of tees from 4,771 yards to 6,928 yards at the tips with the White tees playing to 6,023 yards, 69.5/127, course/slope ratings.
