Carolina Trace CC is 7 miles southeast of Sanford off NC 87 within an upscale, residential community on the north side of Lake Trace. It's a private club featuring two 18 hole layouts designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. with a stay and play package for outside play.

The Lake Course weaves around the rolling contours of the land bordering the 315 acre Lake Trace with water hazards in play on eight holes. It can play to 6,861 yards, 74.3/139, course/slope ratings off the back tees with four shorter tees, redesigned in 2015 by David Whelchel.

The Creek layout is impacted by Carrs Creek over a dramatic change in elevation with water features in some shape of form in play on seven holes overall and is challenging with understated, contoured green complexes well defended by sculptured sand bunkers. It will play to 6,845 yards, 73.7/132, course/slope off the tips with four shorter tee boxes.
