Candlewood is about 15 minutes north of Danbury off I-84 on the south side of New Milford on Rt. 7 on forested land between Candlewood Lake and the Housatonic River.

The golf course is a parkland layout with trees lining the fairways over rolling hills with natural corridors bordering the course. There's multiple ponds and streams in play, numerous slight and severe doglegs, and a modest amount of sand bunkers positioned at the landing zones and guarding the greens. From the Blue tees it plays to 6,441 yards, 72.1/127, course/slope ratings and a par of 71 with two shorter tees with design work by Geoffrey Cornish, Steven Kay, and Robert McNeil.
