Brackenridge Park Municipal Golf Course

Brack is just north of downtown San Antonio off US 281 at Broadway in Brackenridge Park.

It's the oldest 18 hole golf course in Texas and a classic built by A.W. Tillinghast in 1916, who was known for Baltusrol, Winged Foot, and his assistance at Bethpage Black among others mostly up north. It was the venue for the Texas Open until 1959, and is a traditional layout winding along and over the San Antonio River on level terrain. The front side is tight driving along tree lined fairways while the back opens up a bit with the River and a stream snaking through a number of holes. The greens tend to be small and somewhat raised, well protected by deep sand bunkers. It's short by today's standards at 6,243 yards from the back tees, 70.3/126, course/slope ratings with three shorter tees, with a renovation by the Colligan Design Group.
