Boone's Trace is located south of Lexington in Richmond just off I-75 at exit 97 within a residential development along a bend in the Kentucky River.

The golf course's fairways are broad with scattered trees at the borders as the layout traverses rolling terrain through the homesites. While there's several water hazards/wetlands in play and a scattering of sand traps, the course's main defense is the hilly and sloping nature of the fairways and greens. There's four sets of tees with the tips playing to 6,659 yards, 71.6/136, course/slope ratings, designed by David Pfaff on farmland once owned by Cassius Clay.
