Balsam Mountain Preserve is in a 4,400 acre resort, residential Community 45 minutes southwest of Asheville just off US 74 and is available to outside play through a stay and play program.

The golf course provides a stunning display of expansive views and soaring tee balls at a top elevation of 3,700 feet. It's essentially a target oriented layout that requires shot placement as one navigates the sloping fairways, sand bunkers, water features, and undulating green complexes with most of the par 3s the requisite mountain course, downhill, drops to the greens. There's six sets of tees overall with the middle, Palmer tees at 5,923/5,875 yards, Par 70, 68.9/140, course/slope ratings, designed by Arnold Palmer.
